Events had left impact on the earth on December 18

Well... today's topic is about interesting histories about December 18 which is my birthday. This is an assignment given by my English teacher :) Unfortunately, my friends told me that she fell ill and she not coming to school for a few days. I pray that she get well as soon as possible.

Back to the point.... In year 1867, a nightmarish event occurred,this event is called the Angola Horror.This happened just after 3p.m. when the last coach of the Buffalo-bound New York Express of the Lake shore Railway derailed an caught fire in Angola,New York, killing approximately 49 people.It seems like the train ran over a crossing point of two rails causing a wheel on the defective axle to jump off track. The train began swaying violently, brake were applied but the train was travelling at considerable speed. The train managed to stop before sliding 30 feet down the embankment. Year 1939, World War II. The Battle of the Heligoland Bight started on this day. What so special about this battle? This is the longest air campaign of the war.September 3 1939, United Kingdom declared war on Nazi Germany.On 18 December 1939, Aforce of three RAF bomber squadrons were sent to engage German ships in the Heligoland Bight and sink or damage as many as possible.
