Step By Wicked Step : Richard and Colin

In the novel " Step By Wicked Step", the synopsis for the story is 5 children which is Claudia,Colin,Ralph,Pixie and Robbo and their teacher, Mr. Plumley were on their way to Old Harwick Hall.  The the mansion the 5 children found a hidden door which lead them to a old room. In the room , they found a diary called Richard Clayton Harwick_ My story read and weep. They decided to read the story that night as they figured out that their teacher would not let them allow to do so tomorrow. The dairy is about a boy cane from a broken family. After that, all 5 children told their story about their broken family too.

For this blog post , I am gonna compare 2 characters which are Richard and Colin.  These 2 characters have a similarity. Both of them missed their father which was taken away from them. For Richard case,  his father passed away. Meanwhile for Colin, his mother just took him and moved away from their house,  away from Colin's "father".

Similarly, both of them were ignored by their mothers.Richard and Colin put in effort to get their mother attention but they were ignored by their mother. Richard' mother did not defend him when he was scolded by Mr.Coldstone and the treatment he gave Richard. Colin's mother did not answer any questions asked by Colin when the questions is related to his "father" and she was too busy with her work.

After all the difficulties they faced, they decided not to solve but to run away from it. They thought things will be turn out in a better way if they are gone.  Richard ran away from his house with the hope that would make the life in his house more pleasant while Colin plans to run away to find his "father". In the end, they faced more difficulties by doing so. Richard realize that running away from his house does not solve any problems and Colin had to do 3 paper rounds to save money to search for his "father".

To conclude,  Richard and Colin suffered a lot of sorrow and pain. No one even cares about how the felt and there nobody to give them any advise. Running away also does not solve problems, in fact it will affect the people around. Thus, we should take the bull by the horns and think wisely before making any important decision in life.
